When the Self Leads, Love Takes Many Forms

  • by

The different qualities of the “Self” in Internal Family Systems (IFS) are expressions of love. Each quality—such as curiosity, courage, creativity, and clarity—manifests as a different form of love depending on the context.

For example, curiosity is an expression of love when meeting new people. Love takes the shape of courage when faced with injustice that requires action. It shows up as both creativity and clarity when setting boundaries and making decisions in relationships.
Molly Lacroix writes “When the Self leads the internal family, love flows internally and externally in myriad forms,”making love central to the Self’s leadership in IFS.
